Here’s a new indicator for TradeStation 9.0 users. We have had this indicator for quite a while, since well before the new functionality in TradeStation was even known. So the product is a mature one. We have put much time into making it extremely useful to active traders as well as computationally efficient and robust.

The videos below demonstrate how the indicator works. Recordings were made after hours so that they are easier to evaluate. We plan to make the indicator available for lease in a few weeks. Let us know what you think.

That is simply incredible! Makes me look at TradeStation in a whole new light. Please post some regular-session video when you have a chance. I’ve always ignored Market Depth because there is really too much information and it is only a snap shot with quotes of which maybe less than 10% ever trade. Seeing it historically and relative to the bars of a chart. Now that makes market depth useful.

Hello John,

I added a video for you this morning showing OIH market depth during the regular session. See the latest addition above, MARKET DEPTH LEVEL X_2011-03-21_1055. The video was taken from a colocated machine, so there is a limit with our remoting tool as to how frequently the screen updates. Regardless, you can see the dynamic market depth changes as with a market depth window.

Market depth is displayed in a much more useful way than traditional market depth windows, displaying quotes in the context of current and historical prices on a bar chart, with the histogram accurately communicating relative quote sizes in a glance. Histogram lines also reflect historical quote sizes, since the max room for lines is automatically scaled to the highest volume quote seen. And the width of historical plot marks left behind provides even more information, indicating when and where the largest bids and asks appeared.
